Nintendo Wii Ware Contoller Help!?

I want to download paper mario for wii ware but i don't have a classic controller. I have a gamecube controller but i'm worried it won't work WELL. I used a gamecube controller for a snes marie title and the game play was hard due to the positioning of the buttons. So does the gamecube controller work well with the n 64 mario game or should i buy a classic controller?? Thanks!!!
